NASCAR’s Only Street Race Returns for Third Year with New Ticket Options, Reduced Prices Starting at $99, and Shortened Build Schedule
CHICAGO (Jan. 23, 2023) – Today, NASCAR announced that tickets for the third street race in NASCAR Cup Series history will go on sale to the public on Monday, Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. CT. The Chicago Street Race – which was named “Sports Event of the Year” by Sports Business Journal – will return to Grant Park, July 5-6, 2025, this time with new ticket options (including kids 12 and under free all weekend), reduced prices throughout the footprint, and a shorter overall build schedule. NASCAR was able to shorten the overall park build timeline by at least a week, with a full street closure schedule from NASCAR and City officials to follow.
“Unlike events at brick-and-mortar stadiums, we have a unique opportunity to continually refine every element of our race based on key learnings and feedback from attendees and our neighbors in Chicago,” said Julie Giese, President, NASCAR Chicago Street Race. “We’ve listened to their feedback, and we’re being even more creative this year – optimizing our product offerings while continuing to look for ways to be good neighbors by reducing the set-up and tear-down time even further.”
In an effort to introduce the sport to an entirely new generation of fans, NASCAR will double down on its focus on affordable and family ticketing options in Chicago for the 2025 race. Following the successful introduction of youth pricing in 2024, NASCAR will expand its free “Grounds Pass” (formerly known as “General Admission”) ticket offering for kids 12-and-under to both Saturday and Sunday in 2025, with the purchase of a ticket by an accompanying adult. Guests will also enjoy significantly lower price points on “Grounds Pass” tickets and reserved seating (which will now include a new single day option as well). Single-day Grounds Pass tickets start at $99 (33% less than last year), and Frontstretch Premier Grandstands Reserved seats will be offered at nearly a 50% reduction from 2024 prices.
While the 12-turn, 2.2-mile course will remain the same competitive circuit, changes to the park seating structures (namely the consolidation of all premium hospitality areas to the east side of Columbus Drive at Buckingham Fountain) will allow NASCAR to reduce the overall park build timeline by more than a week, in an effort to keep public access to the park open as long as possible. While a full-traffic plan from NASCAR and OEMC will be shared at a later date, these changes will further reduce the associated street closure schedule.
