MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY
NASCAR Chicago Street Race, the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), and Chicago-based non-profit Paint the City up to officially dedicate a new exhibit featuring a custom-painted NASCAR Chicago Street Race show car on display in the Entry Hall of the famed museum.
In celebration of the first-ever NASCAR Chicago Street Race, a Next Gen Ford Mustang stock car has been transformed into a mobile masterpiece hand-painted by an organization of talented local artists, Paint the City.
The mural was designed to serve as a reflection of the rich history and culture of Chicago as well as to foster harmony and inclusivity within the community. The car started to undergo its major makeover during the weekend of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in July 2023 and was completed during the 94th annual Bud Billiken Parade in August 2023.
In addition to the community connection, the Next Gen race car was developed by NASCAR in collaboration with the brightest engineering minds in racing. The design of the car has given drivers greater control while putting an emphasis on race strategies, team personnel and setups.
October 2023 saw the official dedication of the new NASCAR Next Gen Ford Mustang mural at the Museum of Science and Industry. Additionally, three custom-painted racing helmets designed by local artists with Paint the City were unveiled for an auction in support of The NASCAR Foundation.
The NASCAR Next Gen 2023 Ford Mustang will be on display in Entry Hall at MSI through 2026 and is included in Museum Entry. Click here for more information on exhibit and Museum hours.
